Production knowledge. Easy to capture. Reliably available.

Show it once. Skip the paperwork.

All of your company’s process knowledge, structured in one place. Every procedure is documented in minutes.

No writing upNo post-processingReady to use
A procedure is filmed at the CNC milling machine and appears as a work instruction on the phone.

Around 20 % of the working week goes into looking for internal information and asking colleagues. A searchable record of knowledge cuts that search time by up to 35 %. McKinsey Global Institute, 2012

How it works today

Your most experienced operator retires. His knowledge leaves with him.

Work instructions sit in binders, experience sits in the heads of individual people. What someone learned at the machine over decades is written down nowhere. When they leave, the knowledge is missing exactly when it is needed.

of the labour force

in Germany will reach retirement age by 2035.

No standard

Every shift does it differently

STEP is not an ERP and not a document management system. It closes the gap between the instruction in the binder and the work at the machine.

The system

Show it once. Available from then on. Better every round.

One continuous loop instead of separate tools.

Each step builds on the one before. Knowledge is created once and keeps working across the company.

01 // Capture

Documented in minutes. Without extra work.

Your people perform the procedure and explain what they are doing. STEP turns video and speech into a structured work instruction automatically.

  • No post-processing. Ready to use.
  • Structured into steps, text and video sequences automatically
  • Works at the workplace, with no extra equipment
Two colleagues film a work step at the machine tool with a phone.
The procedure is filmed once, while it is being performed anyway.
Getting started

You do not start from scratch.

Existing work instructions, checklists and documents are uploaded and carried into STEP automatically. You only add what is actually missing.

  • Import existing documents and checklists directly
  • Only document what is genuinely missing
  • Work with real data from day one
Existing PDF work instructions become a procedure with steps in STEP Studio.
Existing PDFs are read in and turned into procedures.
02 // Secure

The brain of your company.

Knowledge base and intelligence in one system. Your own work instructions, quality requirements, maintenance procedures and third-party equipment manuals come together in a protected environment. STEP uses that body of knowledge for new procedures, standardisation and improvement.

  • Include manuals for third-party equipment and machines
  • Existing knowledge becomes the basis for new procedures
  • Connects knowledge with intelligence instead of just storing it
  • Searchable across the whole production

Knowledge base and assistant. In development.
03 // Release

From draft to released standard.

Knowledge becomes a controlled procedure.

New or changed procedures pass through defined review and release steps. Work then follows the standard your company has released.

  • Defined review and release steps for new or changed procedures
  • Versioning and change history fully traceable
  • Supports the control of documented information under ISO 9001, clause 7.5

A procedure is submitted for release, reviewed and then set live.
Submit, review, release. The valid version is visible at any time.
04 // Perform

Knowledge where the work happens.

The right procedure. For the right person. In the right place.

  • Work instructions, maintenance and troubleshooting at the machine
  • Step by step and visual, on phone, tablet or in the browser
  • In the language of your people, translated with one click
  • Helps within the workflow instead of interrupting it, which is why it gets used

Onboarding

New hires become productive sooner.

Someone new follows the procedure itself, step by step. The supervisor does not have to stand alongside, and experienced people stay on their own work.

Independent

New hires work through the procedure on their own

Support with context

Whoever needs help does not have to explain where they are.

Whether your operator is at the machine or your customer is at the delivered equipment. The request is raised inside the step itself: machine, step and released version are attached before anyone has to answer.

  • The request is raised in the step it concerns
  • Internally to the supervisor or externally to your service team
  • Access by training level, up to tiered service packages
A note is captured inside the step and passed to the responsible colleague.
Example request from STEP Pilot.
05 // Improve

Your data turns into better procedures.

The basis for process mining and AI-supported improvement.

Every run produces data you can analyse. That return channel is what lets you examine procedures systematically and improve them deliberately, instead of relying on assumptions.

  • Every run delivers structured data
  • Maintenance records and checklists evaluated centrally
  • Move improvements straight into the released standard

06 // Scale

Your machine at the customer. Instructions included.

From service contract to digital premium service.

You ship your product with the matching procedures. Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting are available to the customer at the machine, in their language.

  • Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting at the delivered machine
  • First level support runs through the system instead of your hotline
  • Maintenance records are captured and stay traceable
  • Content released per customer and service package

Who is behind it

From the shop floor, not from software.

Understand procedures before digitalising them.

Urs Pospischil studied production and logistics and has spent more than ten years on LEAN projects and process improvement in manufacturing. As a TÜV-certified quality manager he knows both sides: what the audit asks for and how the work runs on the floor. STEP grew out of that work.

Work instructions rarely fail because of the form. They fail because nobody has time to keep them current. Urs Pospischil, Managing Director, YONA
